Mother's Day trip to lake

May 11th & 12th - Everett had a blast at the lake Mother's Day weekend. We drove out Friday night and returned Saturday afternoon. On Friday night he and Grandad fed the fish. On Saturday, he and Grandma had fun tossing rocks into the goldfish pond and playing with the minnows on the dock. He learned quickly that putting on the life vest was a sign he'd get to go to the dock. By Saturday afternoon he was bringing his Grandad the life vest to let him know he was ready to go play by the water some more! He also enjoyed rides on the paddle boat although they seemed to put him right to sleep!

As you can see, he used up every ounce of energy before we headed home! I don't think he even woke up when we put him in the car!

Our Water Baby

May 6th, 2007
Everett loves playing in the water whether it's in the tub, a puddle outside, or even, unfortunately, the toilet! On nice days we have filled up buckets and let him just go to town moving water from one container to another, usually spilling most of it during the transfer, but always having a blast. Here's a video of E and Daddy playing outside with the water. It's a little long, but pretty darn cute ... especially the ending.

For those of you who don't have time to sit through the whole 2 minute video, here's one of the highlights ...

Ahhhhh

Cheap entertainment

May 9th - Everett decided it was fun to make a bridge using Mom's legs. First he went under the bridge, then he took his car under the bridge. This fun continued for quite some time.

Cottonwood Arts Festival

May 6th - we thought the Cottonwood Arts Festival in Richardson would be a great place to enjoy some family time and nice weather. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring the stroller, so our visit was short-lived. Everett did enjoy a frozen strawberry lemonade and playing in the kids' art area before we left. It was worth the trip, but we'll definitely be bringing his wheels the next time!

First hair cut!

We took Everett for his first haircut on May 5th. After fighting a few tears, I found the courage to say goodbye to his curls. We took him to a place that specializes in kids haircuts. They had a great setup with lots of toys and fun cars to sit in while watching TV during the haircutting. Everett was pretty reluctant to get in the police car at first and we weren't so sure things were going to go well ... thank goodness for Elmo ... as soon as they turned his show on he was much more cooperative! The lady did a great job cutting quickly (but also accurately) and after just a few minutes we were looking at a new little boy. He looks so different now ... he went from baby to little boy in just minutes. His teacher at school said he looks a whole year older!

Driving in cars with curls

Everett has really enjoyed his new backyard. There is the perfect combination of grass and also concrete on which to drive his vehicles. The concrete is also helpful in keeping him from getting too muddy when playing around with water on the patio ... which is what he was doing before these pictures were taken (and why he's running around in his diaper). He can't get enough of the water it seems. I'll treat you to a cute video of him playing with water on the patio in a post very soon. The other significance of these pictures is that they are the last ones that were taken before my sweet baby boy's beautiful curls were chopped off. I'll post his "first haircut" pictures sometime tomorrow but for tonight, I'll leave you with a shot of those darling curls.

4th Annual Mudbug Fest

Our 4th Annual Mudbug Fest was held on April 28th. We had great weather, food, music and fun! We estimated about 120 people stopped by to show their support for the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center and we raised over $3600! Thanks to all of you who made it out this year. More picture from the event can be found by clicking here.

We also celebrated David's Dad's 70th birthday ... Happy Birthday Ray!

Just some pictures of Everett monkeyin' around with Daddy after his bath.

Bubble wrap

We bought a new mirror for our bathroom that came wrapped in that wonderfully fun invention called bubble wrap. David introduced Everett to the joys of bubble wrap and here's a little clip of him discovering how much fun it is to pop. (video taken 4/18)

Baby #2 Update

On April 18th I went in for my 20 week check up. The baby was 12oz and 8 inches (about double the size he was 4 weeks prior). He (and, yes, we also confirmed the baby is a HE) has all his organs and seems to be growing just as he’s supposed to with an ETA remaining around September 5th. The placenta previa has resolved itself so I don’t have to worry about that anymore- whew.
Here's a few new photographs of the little guy.

Happy Easter

April 8, 2007
We celebrated Easter at our new home and Everett enjoyed his very first Easter egg hunt. Brayden was very helpful in showing Everett how to go about looking for eggs and then putting them in his basket. He picked it up quickly and spent quite some time (even after the egg hunt was over) carrying around his basket.

Look how cute Miss Karly is in her Easter bonnet!

Just for fun I dug out a picture of these two cousins' mothers when they were not too far off in age from this picture ... see any resemblence?

Please tune back in!

Yes, I realize it has been over a month since I blogged - tisk, tisk ... but it sure wasn't for lack of material! There's been a lot going on around our house - our NEW house, I should say. After a couple months of renovations we made our "official" move on Easter weekend. (And I say official because that was the day we hired and paid for movers but the truth is there's still some of our stuff at our old house which is now my parent's new house. Mom & Dad - we promise it won't be there forever!) There are still some renovations, unpacking, organizing, etc on the "To do" list but we have slowed down our pace quite a bit. We had our annual crawfish boil and fundraiser scheduled for just 3 weeks after our move (Yes, we are nuts!) so we were really scrambling just to get the house in order for that. I'm going to do my best to get this blog back up to date over the next couple of days so I hope you check back soon for updates.
