My First Tooth!

Everett actually got his first tooth about a month ago, but this is the first picture I've taken that I noticed you could really see it.

This morning after E's nap he still had his pacifier in his mouth. When I picked him up, he took it out of his mouth and tried to put it in mine! What a sweet boy! I hope this means he'll be a good sharer. He's actually been getting some practice sharing toys and playing with others at Adam's house. Elisa has been so wonderful to watch him a few hours a week while I get some work done. E seems to love going over there. Adam has lots of really great toys! :) Adam is just 3 months older than Everett ... It's so nice that he has a little buddy right across the street!

Everett loves to bounce. He first discovered how much fun it is in his bouncy chair ... but now he's happy bouncing wherever he can. Here's some clips of him happily bouncing last weekend. As you can see, this kid has a lot of energy!

Baby Party

Shea & Trent hosted a neighbors' lunch honoring the growing Fisch family today. It's hard to believe there's only 8 weeks left until Jenny's due date. Baby Karly Morgan will be here before we know it!

There were a lot of kids there and Everett enjoyed swinging, crawling in the grass and playing with the others.

The Fisches are lucky to have such nice neighbors and so many children for Brayden and Karly to play with nearby.

Rhyme Time

In an effort to expand Everett's social life, we decided to go to "Rhyme Time" at the library today. Elisa and Seth have been taking Adam for a while now and they said he enjoys it so I figured we'd give it a try. When we arrived, we were directed to a side room full of adorable children and their Moms & Dads. Apparently, this is the place to be on Thursday mornings! The kids were all happy and Everett took a few minutes to take it all in ... then he decided to be social. He crawled over to a 6 month old baby girl. "How cute" ... I thought .............. then he spit up all over her arm - Yuk! How embarrassing! E has still not outgrown his reflux. Switching him to soy formula recently seems to be helping, but you wouldn't have guessed it today. He probably spit up 5 times on the library carpet. (I'm sure you other parents are thrilled to know this ... since we always wonder "how clean is this floor that my child is crawling on?!?!")

The half hour consisted of singing songs, reading a couple books, playing peek-a-boo and blowing bubbles. E liked the songs, but once he got comfortable in his new surroundings, he was more interested in crawling around. The first book the librarian read was "I love you through and through". I hadn't seen it before and liked it so much I had to order it online tonight. I also ordered the Classical Baby DVD. E absolutely loves watching this show on HBO Family. We have a few of them taped at home, but wanted a DVD so we could take it with us to our family reunion next month. FYI- if you're ever looking for a baby gift idea, I highly recommend Classical Baby! And it's very tolerable background noise (Beats Barney any day!). Oops ... I totally digressed ... we had a very nice time at Rhyme Time today and we'll definitely be going back.

Happy Father's Day!

What a nice Father's Day weekend we've had!
Saturday morning we met Leslie for brunch and gave David his Father's day gifts. Les & Everett surprised him with a framed photo of the two of them. As you can imagine ... he LOVED it!




He was thrilled to have such a great photo of his two kiddos. And the "gone fishing" theme was so appropriate ... it won't be long before Big Sis is teaching E to fish! You can see the rest of the pictures from the photo shoot on our Shutterfly site.







After brunch, we went to Srini and Lani's baby shower. I forgot to take any photos or else I'd show you what a beautiful and glowing Mom-to-be Lani is and how happy & excited Srini appears; but I guess you'll just have to trust me.
(It's so hard to believe that it was only ten months ago when we were having our own baby shower and anticipating E's arrival!)

After the shower, we headed out to the lake to celebrate Father's Day with Ray & Brenda. As always, we had a very nice visit, and E enjoyed being the center of attention.

This morning when E started fussing to get up, David jumped up to get him. I promptly (while carefully hiding my reluctance) offered to get up with E so David could sleep in ... after all ... it was Father's Day! Silly me ... David was ready to get up and go fishing! What a treat - he got to fish, the grandparents got to spoil our cutie-pie, and I got to sleep in! Can't beat that!
After breakfast, David and I took the boat out and fished a little more. I won't tell you who caught the most fish ... but let's just say, the sand bass clearly didn't know it was Father's Day!

We had a fabulous lunch. E especially loved Grandma's mashed taters and was also a big fan of the whipped cream, ice-cream & pound cake we had for dessert. Grandad says these things should tide him over until he can have some chicken fried steak - ha!

I'll finish up by saying how thankful and lucky I am to have three wonderful Fathers in my life. Dad, Ray and David - Ya'll are the Best!!!

2006 Father of the Year

2006 Father of the Year Banquet
Tonight we attended the 2006 Father of the Year banquet hosted by the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center at Southfork Ranch. Our very own father was not only nominated, but also chosen as one of the finalists for this award! He didn't take home the trophy, but there's not much room in his RV for nick-knacks anyway ... more importantly, we celebrated together and he knew WE thought he was the BEST! We had a very nice dinner and there was a guest speaker, music, and other fun & games. Everett had a ball crawling around & making friends.

Brayden was with a sitter tonight, but he surely would have been proud to see his "BaBa" on stage being recognized. The night could have only been better if our Molly was there with us. She is to thank for the lovely nomination form submitted which so eloquently described why our Dad is so great! Thanks Molly ... We miss you!

Francille Update

Francille Update
As many of you know, my Mom underwent brain surgery last month (5/18) to repair a large un-ruptured cranial aneurysm. The surgery (which lasted over 7 hours) was successful and her recovery has gone well. She returned home on June 2nd following a week's stay at a rehab facility to help her rebuild her strength. Since her homecoming, she and Dad have joined the community recreation center where they faithfully go to exercise every morning. Mom had a follow-up appointment today with her neurosurgeon. She was told her complete recovery will take about six months. He said she is doing great and removed all her physical restrictions. Yay - she can hold her grandchildren again! He said she can even drive now if she'd like, but she's not comfortable driving as her vision in her left eye is still a little blurry... Besides, I think she enjoys being driven around like Miss Daisy! ;>)

I am so proud of her for getting through yet another health challenge with a great attitude, courage and strength. She's one tough lady! She only has two treatments left related to her breast cancer (Herceptin infusions); then they are free to get back to traveling the states in their RV. Dad says in the future, if she doesn't feel like traveling, she should just tell him instead of getting new illnesses!

My first blog entry

Thank you, Elisa, for inspiring me to start my own family blog! I've been terrible about writing in Everett's baby book and realized that keeping a blog is the next best thing (if not even better!) I hope my friends and family will enjoy sharing the pictures and happenings of our life in this blog.

I'll start my first post sharing the details of Everett's 9 month check-up last Friday (6/9/06). He weighed in at 21.04 lbs and was 29 inches tall. He’s in the 50% percentile for his weight and head size and the 75% percentile for his height. The doctor still thinks he may end up being 6ft tall!

He checked his ears and his ear infection (diagnosed 3 days earlier - his very first illness) is already gone, but we’ll finish out his antibiotics. He said we can start using the word “no” with him now. How on earth do you say "no" to that cutie-pie?!? I'm sure we'll learn! Doc said he's also at the age to start having separation anxiety … might explain his sleeping pattern changing and him waking up earlier.

He said he can eat any baby food now and start eating our food too. (I didn’t tell on his Grandma that she’s already fed him mashed taters and banana pudding). The only things he said to avoid are eggs, nuts and honey. He also suggested only introducing one new food at a time in case he has a reaction.

We came home and Everett played with Cheerios and I think actually ate a few of them. Kelsey and Korbel were happy to clean up the ones he dropped. He’s crawling like a pro now and standing every time you turn around.



He's becoming more and more vocal, but his choice babble is "mammamamama" ... much to Dad's dismay!
