Parents' Night Out
On Saturday night, David cashed in some Marriott points and we stayed the night at the Marriott in the Shops at Legacy. The shopping center had their huge Christmas tree and holiday lights up and we had a great view from our room.
We watched a bit of the OU game at Jaspers, then shopped a little and went back to our room for a short nap before dinner. We enjoyed a very nice Italian dinner at Nicola's. Afterwards, we saw Babel at the Angelika. The movie was good, but a little too intense for my taste.
David and I are still both recovering from colds, so we finished the evening at the room with shots of NyQuil ... how romantic!
Sunday morning we had a yummy brunch at Blue Mesa Grill and then headed home.
Thanks Mom and Dad for babysitting! We had a nice little parents' retreat.

More Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving day at David's Aunt Pat & Uncle Don's house in Chico.
You can see more of the pictures on our picture site here.
Everett had so much fun! He got to play with his cousin, John, whom we hadn't seen since last Halloween when they were both only a month or so old! They've both grown quite a bit since then!
Tool Time
Everett has enjoyed playing with the Sesame Street workbench he got for his birthdday. He loves the song it plays ... (imagine the tune of a school fight song or "I've been working on the railroad") ... "Saw some wood with Bert and Ernie, Cookie monster drills a hole, Oscar's wheels are twisty turning, what will we build today?"

More fun at the park
Everett enjoyed sliding, swinging, ringing the bells, ect. But he was REALLY fascinated but the little boy riding a bike with training wheels around the park. He kept walking over towards him. When the boy parked his bike to go play, E headed towards it looking eager to jump on and take off. We quickly diverted his attention elsewhere!

Karly is all smiles
I babysat my beautiful niece, Karly, yesterday. She's smiling quite a bit these days. Here's a little video of her sweet little smiles.
If this doesn't brighten your day, nothing will!

What I learned this weekend
We were headed to Mark & Helen’s baby shower yesterday afternoon. Everett looked so cute in his new Rugby shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. He had been so happy all morning and was making some pretty silly faces. As mentioned in a previous post, he was sick earlier last week, but seemed to be feeling 100% again. His teachers even commented on Friday about how happy he was and how they enjoyed having him back at school. (I kept him home on Wednesday.) So we were ready to take our happy kid to a baby shower when we suddenly heard some awful noises coming from the back of the car. We still aren’t sure if E was still suffering the after effects of his tummy bug, was car sick, or possibly ate something that didn’t agree with him. Regardless, the results were NOT PRETTY! I will spare you all the very icky details. However, we did learn a few things and made a few observations / discoveries which I’ll share will you now…
1. ALWAYS keep a roll of paper towels in the trunk of your car. An entire package of wet wipes and some old towels are also good to have on hand.
2. ALWAYS have a change of clothes for your little one handy. (And one for you doesn’t hurt too!)
3. People don’t seem to notice when you are stopped in the middle of a residential street, car running, with a half naked baby on your hip, as your husband is gagging and trying his best to clean off a car seat just enough so you can strap your baby back in to take him home.
4. Your family doesn’t seem to mind when you phone and tell them you might not make it to their scheduled function because your baby is getting sick all over the place … they’d rather you tell them this on the phone than by demonstrating it with your child in person!
5. In order to take off our car seat cover (The Evenflo Eddie Bauer edition), a Phillips head screw driver and a college degree in engineering are required.
6. Nothing says “I LOVE YOU” more than a Mom and Dad covered in puke, but completely oblivious to it because they just want their baby to feel better.

Under the weather
We have been passing a lovely stomach bug around our house this past week. Everett came down with it Sunday night, me on Monday and it was David's turn last night. Everett is almost over it, but I could tell he still wasn't quite himself this morning. Here he is laying his head down on the chair to eat his saltines.
