I have a lot of blogging to catch up on so let's get right to it ....
I've had a hard time catching up from (or should I say recovering from?) our one week vacation to Flat Rock, North Carolina in early July for our
Holmer Family Reunion. This was Pryce's 1st trip on an airplane and Everett's 3rd. The boys did really well ... especially given the multiple travel delays and very frustrating circumstances beyond our control.
Our morning (July 6
th) started with us leaving our home at 8am. We traveled with my parents, Jenny,
Brayden and Karly. (Note - that's 4 children under the age of 5!) Shortly after getting through security and boarding the plane (which was quite a feat in itself), we were told there was a flat tire and we'd have to wait while that was fixed. About an hour later, tire was fixed and we were taking off on our way to Atlanta. An hour or so into our flight, we were told that their were severe storms around Atlanta and they had closed the airport. Lovely!
The flight was diverted to Alabama where we needed to refuel and wait for Atlanta airport to reopen. We were allowed to get off the plane to get some food in the airport. An hour or so later, we were back on the plane and on our way again. We finally arrived in Atlanta. Dad and David went to get the rental car with Everett and
Brayden while the rest of us waited for our bags. At one point we thought they'd lost 4 of our bags. Jenny was already on our way to report the lost luggage when they did locate all our bags - phew! Since our flight was so late getting in, they had given away one of our rental vans. Can't we catch a break on this trip already???
An hour or so later, we're in the rental vehicles and on the road to Flat Rock, NC. This was another 3 hour drive. When we booked the trip, we actually thought it would be a nice, scenic drive ... that was, of course, before we knew we'd be driving in the dark! We did finally arrive at our destination .... 14 hours after leaving our home!
Grrrrr .... coincidentally, the drive from our home would have also been 14 hours!
Here's a look at our travelers ...
(sorry, Mom, somehow you dodged my camera lens!)

Pryce finally fell asleep .... just before we landed in Alabama ... figures!
(look carefully in the back of the pictures and you'll notice Karly climbing on top of Brayden. LOL)
The kids were so cute pulling the rolling backpacks through the airport. (Note to parents traveling in the future ... must get rolling backpack!)
